Authorities have identified the 47-year-old man killed outside his home this morning.
According to authorities, police responded to Leslie Street at approximately 9:32 a.m., where they found Wilbert Jones, shot multiple times, said Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable.
Jones was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 10 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
No motive for the killing has been determined.
