Authorities Identify Elizabeth Man Killed by Gunfire

A shooting that left one person dead and two others injured in Elizabeth late Thursday evening is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday afternoon.

The deceased victim has been identified as 20-year-old Al-Yasin Anthony of Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responding to a report of gunshots being fired rushed to the area of Court and First streets at approximately 11:40 p.m. Thursday and found Anthony, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also encountered an adult male and an adult female who had been struck by gunfire; they were transported to local hospitals with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The shooting remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
