A man fatally struck by a vehicle on Christmas Day in Newark has been identified.
Authorities said Khalil T. Lockett, 27, of Newark died of his injuries after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning in the city.
According to authorities, shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Friday morning, Newark police officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on Frelinghuysen Ave. at East Peddie Street.
Arriving officers located Lockett who had been struck by an SUV a short time before they arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:26 a.m. authorities said.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was not immediately charged with a crime according to authorities.
The investigation is still active and on-going.
