Officials ensued an investigation after thirteen motorists reported vehicle malfunction after fueling at Sunoco on Route 35 at Sunset Avenue in Ocean Township.
According to officials, on April 18th the police department received numerous calls reporting vehicle malfunctioning after refueling at the Wanamassa Sunoco.
Police Officer Randy Slawsky responded to the station and met with customers at that location as well as an employee who had stopped serving gasoline.
Notifications were made to the Monmouth County Department of Weights and Measures.
Further information received on April 19th revealed that a sample pulled during yesterday’s testing revealed a significant amount of water in the gasoline. As a result of this test the station is currently closed while Weights and Measures along with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Consumer Affairs investigate the cause of the contamination.
