Passaic authorities are reporting the arrests of Mr. Jaquin Williams, 19, of Paterson, Mr. Kahaz D. Heron, 18, from Clifton; and Jahed Jones, 19, also from Paterson; were arrested on Thursday in connection to the homicide that took place on January 19 at 130 Godwin Avenue in Paterson.
According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Paterson Police were dispatched to the area of 130 Godwin Avenue in response to a report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers located the victim, Mr. Robert Cuadra, 18, from Paterson, lying on the sidewalk in front of that address with an apparent gunshot wound.
Officials said medical personnel arrived and transported Mr. Cuadra to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Cuadra was an honor student who was out retrieving groceries from a car when a stray bullet struck him.
Police say the investigation revealed that Williams, Heron, and Jones, took part in the shooting and were responsible for the murder of Mr. Cuadra.
Police said all three defendants are charged with murder, first degree; Conspiracy to Commit Murder, first degree; Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, second degree; and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, second degree.
All three defendants were charged without incident on January 27, 2022. All three men are currently detained at the Passaic County Jail.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation.
Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
