Authorities in Irvington are on the search for an armed robbery suspect that struck overnight in the township.
The suspect is described as a black male around the age of 20-years-old who was last seen wearing a dark colored hoodie and jeans when he attempted to rob a woman at gunpoint in the 50's block of Laventhal Ave. at around 10 p.m.
The victim reported that the suspect approached her in the area and pointed a weapon at her demanding personal possessions. The woman explained to the suspect that she didn't have anything and was able to walk away to her nearby home where she informed a male acquaintance who left the home to search for the suspect.
The acquaintance drove a short distance where he was able to find the suspect walking in the area. After a brief verbal confrontation, the suspect opened fire in the direction of acquaintance, striking the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and the suspects.
There were no injuries reported.
