Atlantic County Grand Jury Indicts Man for Allegedly Possessing Explicit Images of Minors

MAYS LANDING- An Absecon man who was indicted in October 2018, on explicit images of minors charges has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Police say Mr. Edward Bonek, 50, pleaded guilty this morning to Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Distributing explicit images of minors and Possession of an Assault Firearm. Bonek has also agreed to forfeit his principal and teacher’s licenses.

“As an educator and a principal, Ed Bonek was charged with the responsibility of protecting children.

Instead, he used his school issued computer to exploit children through his possession and distribution of explicit images of minors .

Children are among the most vulnerable victims in our society and it is almost inconceivable that a predator, in the form of a high school principal, had access to potential victims every day he reported for duty.

Iam outraged by the continuous assault upon the children in our community,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.
