Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Tuesday, February 11, Kenneth Thompson, 26, of Atlantic City, was sentenced to an aggregate term of five years in New Jersey State Prison after previously pleading guilty to second-degree possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.
According to ACPO officials, on November 18, 2023, the Atlantic City Police Department conducted a stop of a motor vehicle driven by Thompson. A narcotics-sniffing canine positively identified the odor of illegal narcotics.
Following his arrest, Thompson was searched, and the police recovered 200 folds of wax containing fentanyl and $165.00, Atlantic City Police stated.
Atlantic County officials say that through surveillance footage, police learned that Thompson had exited his sister’s apartment prior to the motor vehicle stop.
A search of that apartment led to the recovery of approximately 1,175 wax folds in a closet, ACPO authorities said.
According to Atlantic County officials, Thompson was also sentenced to a concurrent five-year prison term on a separate indictment prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
