On Friday, November 1, 2024, Eugene Shirk, 33, of Atlantic City, NJ, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and was sentenced to six years in New Jersey State Prison.Under the plea agreement, Shirk must serve 85 percent of his sentence, in compliance with the No Early Release Act, before he becomes eligible for parole.
The charges stem from an incident on April 13, 2023. Around 2:00 p.m., Atlantic City Police responded to a call near South Carolina and Adriatic Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the victim, who identified Shirk at the scene.
She reported that Shirk had jumped into her car while she was stopped at the intersection, demanding all her money.Fortunately, she was able to turn off the car and escape unharmed.
Law enforcement apprehended Shirk on the scene, leading to his recent sentencing.
