An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty Thursday to weapons and assault charges, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
According to authorities, Azaiah Grisom, 19, pleaded guilty before Presiding Judge Bernard DeLury to second-degree Possession of a Handgun for Unlawful Purposes and fourth degree Aggravated Assault by Pointing a Handgun. The plea agreement calls for an aggregate sentence of 5 years New Jersey State Prison with an 18-month period of parole ineligibility. Grisom was released on electronic monitoring pending sentencing Aug. 3, 2018.
Officials say on April 17th, Grisom, was indicted with second degree Aggravated Assault and related crimes, including second degree Possession of a Semi-automatic Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun Without a Permit and fourth-degree Assault by Pointing a Firearm in connection with a shooting that occurred in December 2017.
According to police, on December 5, 2017, shots were fired at a residence at 713A Wabash Ave, Atlantic City, where Jordan Reaves, 20, was struck by gunfire. Responding officers of the Atlantic City Police Department and detectives of the ACPD Violent Crimes Unit located various substances inside the apartment, including approximately 6lbs of marijuana, 70 wax folds of heroin and three bags of crack cocaine.
Detectives also located CDS packaging materials and a bag containing 19 rounds of live ammunition.
Officials indicted Donte Ford, 23, for second degree Possession of Marijuana, more than five pounds, with the Intent to distribute, and third degree Possession of Cocaine and Heroin with the Intent to Distribute.
