A 77- year-old man was indicted today for committing multiple sexual offenses against a child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Officials say an Atlantic County Jury returned an indictment against Santos Torres, 77, for sexually assaulting and infecting a 16-year-old female with a sexually transmitted disease.
According to authorities, Torres was charged with:
Second-Degree Sexual Assault
Third-Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Criminal Sexual Contact
Diseased Person Committing an act of Penetration
Officials say on April 24th, members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department arrested Santos Torres, 76, from Atlantic City for various sexual offenses committed against a juvenile victim.
These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
