Atlantic City Man Indicted for 2016 Murder

An Atlantic City man is indicted for murder and weapons charges in the killing of Ricky Ward on Dec. 31, 2016, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

According to officials, on June 21, 2017, a Grand Jury returned an indictment against Thomas Green, 64, for murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, including other weapons.

Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Atlantic City Police responded to the 1200 block of Adriatic Avenue on the morning of December 31, 2016, where Ward, was found dead in a trash can.


Ward, 52, of Delta Avenue, Atlantic City, was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

Green was arrested on the evening of Dec. 31, 2016.


If convicted of murder, Ward faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life incarceration in New Jersey state prison. Green remains in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
