Atlantic City Man Convicted in Deadly Shooting Incident

Authorities in Atlantic County announced on Tuesday, June 11, that an Atlantic County jury convicted Kenneth Creek, 49, of Atlantic City, of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.AdOfficials said following the jury trial, the Court found him guilty of an additional count of second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms.

The investigation began on August 25, 2022, when Atlantic City Police Department officers responded to the South Carolina Apartments Complex at 1300 Baltic Avenue in Atlantic City just after midnight, officials stated.

Upon arrival, officials say, police found Jordan Eaddy, 31, of Philadelphia, deceased in the grass with two gunshot wounds.

According to officials, evidence presented at trial, including video footage of the shooting, showed Creek fired twice at Eaddy as he attempted to flee.

The medical examiner testified that one wound to his back was fatal and resulted in his death, officials said. 

Authorities say Creek claimed at trial that he fired in self-defense.

AdThe trial began on Monday, June 3, 2024, before the Honorable Pamela Darcy, J.S.C., and lasted seven days, according to officials.

Officials stated that on the murder conviction, Creek faces 30 years to life in New Jersey State Prison.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 25, 2024, authorities say.
