Arrests Made in Baseball Bat Attack in Clifton

Clifton Police two men into custody and charged them with aggravated assault after they allegedly struck a man in the head with a baseball bat, police said.

According to authorities, police officers were flagged down by the 39-year-old victim in the 100 block of Clifton Avenue at around 12:25 Wednesday morning.

The victim told officers that he was attacked by two male suspects at that location.

Police found a group in Nash Park and charged Gilberto Perez, 21, of Passaic, and a 17-year-old from Passaic, with aggravated assault and weapons possession.

Surveillance video collected by officers in the area matched with a 17-year-old that officers apprehended.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital after receiving staples in his head according to authorities.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
