Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for robbing a check cashing business in November.
According to Newark officials, Alexander Tasay-Coquevedo, 26, stole $10,563 on November 25.
Police responded to reports of a robbery that occurred around 6:30 p.m. at Lider Express III, located in the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue, officials say.
According to police, he entered the store wearing a ski mask, brandished a handgun and told the employees to open the cash register.
Police say he took an envelope containing money on the counter and thousands of dollars from the cash register.
After the robbery, the suspect ran from the store northbound across Bloomfield Avenue.
During the investigation, detectives identified Tasay-Coquevedo as the suspect, who is also wanted in connection with multiple robberies.
According to officials, he is 5’ 8” to 5’9” inches tall, 150 pounds, and has brown eyes, black hair, and a light to medium complexion.
Tasay-Coquevedo is known to frequent the areas of Bloomfield, Summer, Park Avenues, and North 6th Street, officials say.
