Authorities announced that based upon an investigation by the Paterson Police Department’s Cease Fire Unit, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Camar Campbell, 36 years old, from Paterson, was arrested today about a shooting incident that took place on May 2, 2017.
Police charged Cambell with Attempted Murder, first degree; Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, second degree; Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, first degree; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second degree; and Certain Persons not to have Weapons (handgun), second degree.
According to police, on May 2, 2017, a shooting occurred in the area of 10th Avenue and East 27th Street. As a result, a victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left bicep.
Based on an ongoing investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Campbell for this incident.
Camar Campbell is scheduled to appear at Central Judicial Processing on June 2, 2017, at 1:30, p.m. The State intends to file a motion for pretrial detention in this matter that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
