Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Police Chief Scott Thomson announced today that a Camden man has been arrested and charged with a fatal shooting in Camden. Tyhan Brown, 18, of the 1800 block of Kossuth Street, has been charged with first degree murder in the fatal shooting of 8-year-old Gabrielle Hill-Carter.
Brown was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force at a relative’s home in Clarksville, Tennessee.
He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail in Clarksville awaiting extradition proceedings.
On September 15, 2016, Brown’s mother, Shakia Land, was charged with hindering the homicide investigation. Similar charges were filed against Brown’s girlfriend, Natasha Gerald, earlier this week. Both women are charged with providing false alibi information to homicide detectives.
Gabrielle Hill-Carter was shot in the 900 block of South 8th Street in Camden on August 24, as she was riding her bicycle in front of her home.
She was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she was admitted in extremely critical condition with a gunshot wound to her head. She died as a result of that injury on August 26, 2016.
