Police are searching for two suspects who exchanged gunfire near a Newark South Ward Park this afternoon.
Newark Police officials said a man was injured in the shooting in the area of Weequahic Park on Sunday afternoon.
Officers were called to the area of Renner and Elizabeth avenues around 1:25 p.m.
According to a statement from police, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Police believe two females began firing shots at each other before fleeing the scene.
The victim is in stable condition. No arrests had been reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
