Armed Suspects Drag Newark Ironbound Woman During Robbery

Police in Newark requests the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a robbery of a woman on July 14. AdThe robbery occurred around 6:10 a.m. on Ferry Street as the victim was unlocking the gate to the restaurant where she works.

The suspects, described as Black males, were in a stolen Mazda SUV.

One suspect exited the vehicle, approached the victim from behind, and forcibly took her purse, dragging her to the ground. 

The purse contained a wallet with $40 and a cell phone.

Robbery A witness attempted to intervene but was deterred when another suspect brandished a gun. Emergency Medical Services transported the injured victim to University Hospital. The suspects fled in the stolen Mazda SUV, which was later recovered. 

The same suspects were also involved in another robbery on Elm Street.AdSuspect descriptions are as follows:

- Suspect #1: Black male, thin build, dark complexion, wearing a black sweatjacket, pants, and black/white sneakers.

-Suspect #2: Black male, thin build, dark complexion, wearing white sneakers, blue shorts, a black hoodie, and pants underneath.

-Suspect #3: Driver of the vehicle who did not exit during the robbery.

Two additional possible suspects were present when the Mazda was stolen on July 13, 2024.
