Armed Robbery of Woman in Irvington has Two Arrested; Essex Sheriff, NPD1 Assisted

Irvington Township New Jersey

A violent armed robbery of a woman that happened overnight in the city placed officers in "full court press" mode.

Police received calls of an armed robbery in progress that happened in the 1100 block of Grove Street (near Irvington Park) at around 1 a.m.  where they arrived to find a woman who reported being robbed at gunpoint by two male suspects a short time before units arrived.

The woman reported that the suspects approached armed with a "large gun", demanding personal possessions. The woman reportedly complied, handing over several items including a wallet containing cash and other valuables.

Quick response by units zoned off the area with a perimeter stretching a couple of blocks where a search for the suspects began.

With NPD1 (NPD Helicopter) hovering over the skies, units from the Essex County Sheriff's Department and Irvington Police thoroughly canvassing by ground, officers located the suspects in the area of Coit Street and Olsen Place.

Police placed the men in custody and located the victim's personal items in the 100 block of Maple Ave.

There were no injuries reported.
