Authorities in Newark are investigating a commercial armed robbery that happened in the city earlier this afternoon.
Police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress at the New Fried Chicken located in the 600 block of Orange Street.
According to reports, shortly before 3:30 p.m., a black males suspect entered the establishment armed with a gun when he demanded cash from the register.
A store employee handed over a little over $100 shortly before the suspect fled the scene on foot.
There were no injuries reported.
Police have not reported an arrest.
