Authorities in Newark are investigating several armed robberies that happened in the city.
Police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress that happened at a gas station in the 800 block of Clinton Ave. shortly before 9:30 p.m. where armed suspects approached the attendant and demanded cash.
According to reports, while the attendant was attempting to pass over proceeds, the suspect began to physically attack the attendant.
EMS were called to the scene for non-life threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Shortly before 10 p.m. in the 300 block of Park Ave., police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress where arriving units located the attendant who told them that a Hispanic male approached (armed with a gun) and demanded cash.
When the attendant replied that there was no cash to give, the suspect fled the scene northbound on 6th Street.
There were no injuries reported.
An early Thursday morning armed robbery of Metro PCS Store had police respond to the 100 block of Bloomfield Ave. at around 11 a.m.
According to company officials, a male suspect (possibly Hispanic) entered the store armed with a weapon and demanded cash.
The suspect was reportedly handed over around $200 dollars and several cell phones before he jumped into a waiting vehicle that sped off.
There were no physical injuries reported in the store robbery.
