Elizabeth Police are investigating a shooting incident in a section of the city Friday.
The late-night shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Prince and Union Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, two men armed with a weapon approached the victim and announced a robbery.
During the incident, one of the men fired the gun in the victim's direction, striking him in the stomach.
Police say officers and EMS arrived at the scene and found the injured victim suffering -what appeared to be- a small-caliber gunshot wound.
Officials believe the suspects were armed with a pellet or BB-gun. Still, the victim's injuries were severe enough that medical personnel at the scene transported him to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The investigation into the incident remains active, ongoing and no arrests have been made.
