Police in Newark are investigating what appears to be two separate armed robberies that were reported in the city overnight.
In the first incident, police were called to the area of Central Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard a little after 1 a.m. where arriving units found the victim who reported being robbed at gunpoint shortly before officers arrived.
The victim reported being approached by two black males who exited a gray Jeep Cherokee and were armed with a gun and demanded personal possessions.
The suspects took several items before fleeing the scene reports said.
A short time later, police were called to the 400 block of South 14th Street after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Police arrived to find the victim who told them that a black male suspect approached with a gun and took personal possessions.
The suspect was around 5'7" tall and wore camouflage pants, a dark colored shirt, and a mask covering his face.
There were no physical injuries immediately reported.
