An active and ongoing investigation is underway in Bloomfield following the arrest of a man found carrying a loaded firearm inside a local Home Depot.
The incident began with a report of a disturbance in the store’s parking lot, which quickly escalated into a weapons-related arrest.

According to information released by Bloomfield Police, officers were dispatched to the Home Depot after a store security guard reported a group of individuals arguing outside the building.
During the altercation, one person was seen retrieving what appeared to be a handgun from a parked vehicle.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the individual—later identified as Jason Agyemang of Newark, NJ—inside the store.
After being briefly detained, Agyemang reportedly admitted to carrying a firearm without a valid permit.
Police recovered a loaded .357 Smith & Wesson revolver from his possession without incident.
Further investigation led officers to conduct a consensual search of the vehicle linked to Agyemang. Inside, they discovered a pair of brass knuckles, which are also considered a prohibited weapon under New Jersey law.
Agyemang was arrested on multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, being a prohibited person in possession of a weapon, and making terroristic threats.
He was taken to the county jail and is currently awaiting a hearing in Superior Court.
Police Chief George Ricci praised the officers’ quick response, stating, “One of the most dangerous calls officers face is when someone is reportedly armed with a gun. Thanks to our officers' swift and tactical actions."
