Armed Men Rob Elizabeth Gas Station

Elizabeth

Elizabeth Police are on the search for a suspect who held up a gas station in the city during the overnight hours.

According to preliminary reports, the robbery occurred at BP Gas Station located at the intersection of Bayway and Brunswick avenues at approximately 1 a.m. where two males reportedly arrived at the station armed with guns and attempted to get money from a safe.

The suspects then fled the scene wearing masks according to reports. It is not clear if the suspects took cash from the business during the robbery.

According to officials, the overnight robbery is the latest in a series of holdup in the last two weeks at businesses in Elizabeth.

Elizabeth city spokeswoman Kelly Martins said a 7-Eleven on Elmora and West Grand was held up by a man with a knife who ran from the scene after taking an undetermined amount of cash.

The owner of the same 7-Eleven said that about three weeks ago, a male walked in with a machete and robbed him of cash and other items. "I am terrified that I will get injured while just trying to make an honest living," the owner said.

There were no physical injuries reported in any of the incidents and the suspects remain at-large.
