A man who walked into a downtown Newark business then robbed employees at gunpoint now has police on the search for his whereabouts.
It happened at around 5:30 p.m. at the the Professional African Hair Braiding Boutique located in the 200 block of Washington Street where police were alerted to an armed robbery in progress.
Units who arrived at the scene were told by employees that a black male suspect who wore dark clothing and a mask entered the establishment armed with a weapon and took an unknown amount of proceeds.
Police say the suspect ran from the scene immediately after the robbery.
Officers searched the downtown area for the suspect, but there were no reports of arrests.
No physical injuries reported.
