A reported armed robbery that turned into an assault at a motel in Union has police investigating.
Police responded to the motel that's located in the 1600 block of Rt. 22 on the eastbound side for reports of an assault.
Units arrived to the scene where they located the victim who was occupying a room at the time of the incident.
According to the victim, a male suspect (who was only described as black) knocked on the door shortly before 11:30 p.m.
When the victim reportedly opened the door, the suspect (who was armed with a weapon) went on the attack.
The victim was repeatedly struck in the face with an object held by the suspect then robbed for an unknown amount of cash.
EMS were called to the scene for facial lacerations.
There were no reports of an arrest as of 2:30 a.m.
