Authorities in Newark are on the search for an armed suspect who took a vehicle from a person in the city's South Ward early Monday morning.
According to police, sometime after midnight, officers responded to reports of a carjacking in progress near 153 Hopkins Avenue.
Upon arrival, the victim told police that suspects, armed with a gun, took their 2018 Mercedes Benz then sped away from the scene northbound on Hopkins.
Police said the vehicle had an NJ license plate number "C29-JGS."
At approximately 2:50 a.m., Essex County authorities found the unoccupied vehicle near 22 Cutler Street.
There were no physical injuries reported and the suspects remain at-large.
