An armed carjacking that turned into a shooting in Paterson has police investigating.
Police responded to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Grimes Place sometime around 7 p.m. for a report of a carjacking.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim - driver of a 2013 Chevy Sonic - who told police that two male suspects fired several rounds at his car prior to coming to a halt. The suspects then pistol whipped the victim, taking off in the Chevy.
The vehicle was recovered a short time later in the 200 block of East 25th Street.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The incident is under investigation.
