Police in Newark are investigating a reported armed carjacking that resulted in injuries to the victim at a location in Newark's West Ward on Saturday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the 200 block of Norman Road to investigate reports of a carjacking in progress that occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene were told by the victim that two black male suspects approached armed with a gun and demanded the vehicle.
Police say the suspects began to beat the victim with the gun during the robbery then took a 2016 Gray Nissan Altima.
The car has reported NJ license plate numbers "R50-LUP". Police say the suspects sped away from the scene northbound on Norman Road.
There were no severe injuries reported at this time.
