Police in Newark are on the search or a violent suspect who conducted an armed carjacking in the city's North Ward Saturday morning.
According to authorities, the incident was reported to officials before 3 a.m. where police arrived in the 300 block of Broadway to take a report of a carjacking.
Police say an unidentified suspect approached the driver of a 2001 Toyota Camry and began to attack before taking the car.
According to police, NJIT authorities spotted the car near Orange and 1st Street just before 11:55 p.m. and attempted to pull the driver over, but the suspect sped away and remains at-large.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
