A heated argument that erupted in an Elizabeth neighborhood ended with one of the participants fatally stabbing the other Friday evening.
A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 8:25 p.m., police responded to Trinitas Hospital after officials reported that a man was transported by private vehicle suffering a massive stab wound in his neck.
Officers who arrived at the hospital were told by a woman, who transported the man, that the incident happened near 439 Elizabeth Avenue.
Police confiscated the woman's vehicle for the investigation but later learned that the victim was stabbed after an argument with an unidentified man before the violent stabbing.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office was advised of the incident and will lead the homicide investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
