Last night, a large gathering turned disorderly outside the skating rink at Branch Brook Park, prompting the Essex County Sheriff's Office to intervene.
The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. near the Clifton Avenue and 7th Avenue side of the park.
The sheriff's office, which patrols Branch Brook Park, received multiple calls reporting a physical altercation involving several individuals.
Upon arrival, sheriff units were able to control the situation quickly. However, it escalated to the point where one individual was tasered and subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct, according to initial reports.
EMS was dispatched to the scene to assess the condition of the tasered individual.
The exact cause of the fight remains unclear, and authorities are currently investigating it. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
