Allegedly Intoxicated NY Man Accused of Assaulting Madison Cop

Madison

Madison Police were dispatched to a Madison business located at 90 Park Avenue, for a dispute in progress Thursday around 8:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers came in contact with a male, later identified as Ian J. O’Leary, 28 of Brooklyn, NY.

Witnesses advised that O’Leary had caused a disturbance towards patrons and employees wanted him removed. They advised that O’Leary was walking around the interior of the business, yelling obscenities, in thong underwear.

Witnesses advised that O’Leary was intoxicated and causing a disturbance.

During the investigation O’Leary refused to cooperate with officers and he became combative. He was advised that he was under arrest and when officers attempted to handcuff him, he head butted one of the Madison Police Officers.

O’Leary resisted officer’s control and was finally placed into custody.

He was later charged with resisting arrest (disorderly person’s offense), disorderly conduct (petty disorderly person’s offense), and aggravated assault on a law enforcement Officer (4th degree crime).

Charges were filed by Ptl. Matthew Mirabella, who refused medical attention on scene.

O’Leary was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he was released into the care of hospital staff, pending a Morris County Superior Court Apppearance.
