Alleged Shooting Suspect Arrested in Newark

The Newark Police Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Drevone Anthony, 20, of Newark today in connection with a shooting in the area of Irvine Turner Boulevard near Muhammad Ali Avenue.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:05 p.m., on Monday, Newark Police responded to the area on a call for assistance.

A shot had been fired from a hand gun at a 36-year old female victim who also had been assaulted as part of a domestic dispute.

As part of their investigation, detectives developed evidence that Drevone Anthony is a suspect in this incident.

The Honorable Sybil M. Elias, J.M.C., issued a $450,000.00 warrant for Anthony on charges of Conspiracy to Commit an Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Simple Assault.

Anthony was arrested without incident in the area of Kent and Rose streets police said.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty in a court of law.
