Police in Newark seeks the public’s help in identifying a woman who they say is wanted for her possible involvement in a carjacking that occurred on Friday.
The woman in question has not been charged with a crime and is wanted for questioning at this time. She is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law upon her capture or surrender to authorities.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 3:40 p.m., at the corner of Dawson and Thomas streets, the female in the photo along with a black male approached the victim armed with a weapon.
Director Ambrose said the man demanded the victim's car at knifepoint **(updated 4:52 pm)**
The suspects entered the victim’s car and sped away from the scene.
Director Ambrose said the suspect also took the victim’s tablet and other personal property.
The male suspect wore a white shirt and blue jeans while the female -in the picture- wore a black shirt, brown shorts, glasses, and had braids.
While police are actively searching for this young lady, Director Ambrose seeks the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing her from city streets.
There were no physical injuries reported.
This investigation is ongoing.
