ALERT: Three Suspects Wanted for Newark South Ward Armed Robbery

Police in Newark are searching for three suspects involved in an armed robbery that occurred on Friday in the city's South Ward.Ad

According to Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, the incident took place at approximately 10 p.m. when police responded to a report of an armed robbery.

The victim, who had just exited a business on the 200 block of Lyons Avenue, was standing outside the store when he was surrounded by a group of males who had been inside the same establishment.

The suspects reportedly demanded that the victim change the Face ID on his cell phone. One of the suspects lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun tucked into his waistband.

The victim complied with their demands, and the group walked away with his cell phone, heading eastbound on Lyons Avenue from Clinton Place.

Detectives describe Suspect #1 as a Black male wearing a black sweater with green designs and gray pants; this suspect displayed the handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as a Black male wearing a black sweater with a red design and dark-colored pants.

Suspect #3 is described as a Black male wearing a blue and black sweater and dark-colored pants.
