ALERT: Suspects Sought for Burglarizing Beulah Grove Baptist Church in Newark; Separate Suspect Sought for House Burglary

Police in Newark are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects wanted in connection with two separate burglary incidents.

According to a statement released by Newark Police, at approximately 3:45 a.m., on Friday, October 18, two men entered the parking lot of Beulah Grove Baptist Church, 59 Springdale Avenue, and stole two cases of water from a church van in the parking lot.

Police say one of the men later returned and gained entry to the church, where he stole a 30” smart TV, two laptops, an Echo Dot and food. Detectives investigating this incident report that a female and the male accomplice who stole the cases of water met the intruder after he exited the church, and they each fled on Springdale Avenue heading towards 11th Street.

According to police, the suspect who entered the church is described as having a light complexion with a full gray beard.

He wore a baseball hat, dark-colored hooded sweater, blue sweat pants with a white stripe at the knee and tan work boots.

He also walks with a limp. Police say the female suspect is described as wearing a dark-colored trench coat with a white scarf around her head.

She wore slippers, sweat pants and carrying a white bag. The other male suspect was wearing a hooded sweater with the words “Blessed” on the back and a baseball hat on his head.

In a separate incident, a man entered a victim’s residence in the 500 block of North 7th Street, without permission, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 17.

The victim questioned the man, who fled carrying a sky blue plastic bag.

Police say the suspect is described a light-skinned Hispanic, between 30-35 years old. He is approximately 5’7” tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweater and dark jeans.

While police are actively searching for each of these burglary suspects, they seek the public’s help in quickly identifying any of them as part of these investigations.
