NJ State Troopers, Newark Police and Bayonne Police departments are continuing an active person search for two suspects who are wanted for an aggravated assault incident on police officers in Hudson County.
According to a preliminary investigation, just after 12:15 p.m., police in Bayonne looked into reports of a suspicious vehicle with occupants inside wanted for catalytic converter thefts.
Police say they located a gray Honda Oddessy minivan and pulled the vehicle over when the driver reportedly attempted to drag three officers causing non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver then led police on a high-speed pursuit that continued onto I-78 then into Newark, where police lost the vehicle after the toll plaza.
Police say a massive police presence circled several parts of Newark where officers found the unoccupied car in the vicinity of 20 North 6th Street near Dickerson around 1:10 p.m.
According to the investigation, a gun was dumped from the car near the toll plaza.
NJ State Police are conducting an aerial search of several parts of Newark's North Ward, including Sussex Avenue and around I-280, for suspects only described as black and Hispanic males.
