Police in the Town of Harrison are investigating the theft of a pizza delivery vehicle that occurred early this evening.
Around 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Bergen Street and 5th Street (Harrison) following reports of a stolen vehicle.Upon arrival, they met with a pizza delivery driver who reported that their black Mazda, marked with a delivery medallion on top, had been stolen while left running.
According to witnesses, the theft was carried out by individuals in a red vehicle.
The suspects pulled up beside the delivery car, exited their red vehicle, and drove off in the Mazda, heading toward 7th Street. The car was last seen in Newark's South Ward on Bergen Street.
The stolen Mazda has a New Jersey license plate number, "Z88-RRS," and is currently being tracked.
Authorities urge residents to contact Newark Police at 973-733-6000 or Harrison Police at 973-483-4100 if they spot the vehicle.Officials remind the public to avoid leaving cars running unattended, as such incidents provide opportunities for theft. The investigation is ongoing.
