All schools in the Montclair School District are closed today following a security concern, according to district officials.
A notice on the district's website stated that a threat was reported to local law enforcement late last night.
"Late yesterday evening, we were made aware of a potential threat to our district. Upon receiving this information, we immediately contacted the Montclair Police Department and have been closely following their guidance," Interim Superintendent Damen G. Cooper explained in a public message.
Although the exact nature of the threat has not been disclosed, Cooper assured the community that police are actively monitoring the situation.
“I understand that this last-minute closure may cause inconvenience, but the safety of our students, staff, and entire school community is our highest priority," he added.
District officials have pledged to keep the public informed as more details emerge.
