Police in Cranford alerted residents to avoid the area of Orchard Sreet as Union County animal officials attempt contain a black bear found wandering in the area Monday morning.
Police say the bear was spotted in the residential area just before 9:30 a.m.
Authorities urged residents in the area to keep pets and small children indoors.
An orchard street resident did manage to get a glimpse of the bear then snap a picture from a distance.
