ALERT: Armed Robbery Suspects Target Students in Newark's North Ward, Belleville

Police in Newark and Belleville are on the search for several armed suspects who have reportedly committed multiple early morning armed robberies, mainly of students who were walking to school, in Newark's North Ward and at least one in Bellevile according to reports.

Cops in both cities have been advised of two armed black males who have been robbing students who were walking to school on Thursday morning.

According to reports, one of the initial armed robberies occurred in the 20's block of Heckel Street in Belleville shortly before 7:30 a.m. where armed suspects approached a student, who was walking to school, and demanded personal possessions.

The victim handed over the items and the suspects ran from the area reports said.

A short time later, suspects fitting the same description approached a student, who was walking to school in the area of First Avenue and 10th Street, brandished a weapon and stole personal items.

The same suspects made their way down several blocks to First Avenue and 13th Street where they robbed yet another student at gunpoint, for personal items reports said.

The latest armed robbery was reported this morning (Friday), shortly before 5 a.m., where two black male suspects surprised a woman (who was walking to work) and demanded her purse, and cell phone while pointing a gun at her according to reports.

Police contacted EMS for the victim who obtained an unspecified injury.

**Suspects for Thursday morning incidents have been described as the following:**

Two black males, one of the men was wearing a black hoodie and dark colored pants while the other suspect was wearing a blue hoodie and Khaki pants.

The men were armed with at least one handgun and fled the scene in a silver or grey crossover vehicle with tinted windows.
