As parts of upper Bergen County continue to recover from recent stormy weather, the remnants of Hurricane Debbie are poised to deliver another significant rainfall to the region this Friday.
Forecasts predict close to 2-5 inches of rain, which could exacerbate cleanup efforts from Tuesday's storms.
Currently, Newark is experiencing cool and breezy conditions with cloudy skies and temperatures hovering around 67 degrees.
The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that the community should remain aware. Showers are likely throughout Thursday, particularly between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with cloudy skies and a high near 73 degrees.
Easterly winds could reach 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
The chance of precipitation stands at 60%, increasing into Thursday night when showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected after 2 a.m. NWS meterologist say temperatures will remain steady around 74 degrees overnight.
Residents are advised to keep an umbrella close at hand to contend with potential pop-up storms as Debbie's remnants move through the area.
