The North Jersey region received between 1 and 3 inches of rain overnight, significantly cooling down from recent high temperatures.

At 4:30 a.m., the temperature in Newark was 71 degrees. While there were still some light showers this morning, the day was not expected to be a complete washout.

The good news is that the rain is helping to clear out the persistent humidity, providing a refreshing change.

However, residents should remain prepared for more wet weather Friday as Tropical Storm Debbie continues to influence local conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will likely see showers, mainly before 8 a.m., cloudy skies, and a high near 72 degrees.

A northeast wind of around 10 mph will accompany a 60% chance of precipitation, with new precipitation amounts expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

NWS forecasters say the night will bring a 30% chance of showers, mainly after 2 a.m., under mostly cloudy conditions with a low of around 66 degrees.
