Atlantic County authorities announced in collaboration with the Coalition for a Safe Community, and the Egg Harbor City Police Department the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office proudly assisted in the creation and assembly of a playground set for the Harbor City Apartments located in Egg Harbor City.Officials said community and law enforcement volunteers came together to make this dream a reality in a traditionally underserved and underutilized area.
Students from the Cedar Creek High School National Honor Society also joined in the community service project, as well as ACPO's Community Outreach team, joined by the skilled assistance of Lieutenant Michael Kelly and Detectives Estefania Giraldo and Giphsys Howard, officials say.
According to officials, at the conclusion of the playground assembly, volunteers witnessed the results of their efforts as the neighborhood youth excitedly emerged to climb and swing on the new construction.
This project allows for the local children to play in a safe setting while representing an active reminder that their community values their safety, development, and well-being.
Prosecutor William E. Reynolds states, "Truly one of the best and most rewarding parts of being a member of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is working with a team of people to achieve a common goal that positively impacts the community and our most valued asset, our children."
The playground assembly was directed under the leadership of Perry Mays, Chairman of the Board for the Coalition for a Safe Community, who quotes, "As a result of years of partnerships with the ACPO and the Coalition for a Safe Community, we were able to assemble a 'swingset' for the children at Harbor City Apartments in Egg Harbor City this past week. Through hard work and dedication from our ACPO, Egg Harbor City PD, students from Cedar Creek HS, and the Coalition for a Safe Community, the fruits of our labor are now completed."
"This initiative shows the great relationship between law enforcement and the community partnering together for the betterment of the community at large. This is just the start of many, many more initiatives of this kind between law enforcement and the community."
