Police in Summit are investigating an incident where a pedestrian, a 73-year-old local woman, was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, leaving her injured.
At approximately 12:45 PM, Summit Police responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit at the entrance to the Tier Garage, located at 426 Springfield Avenue.
According to police officials, the pedestrian was crossing the alleyway when she was struck by a 2021 Jeep Cherokee driven by an 85-year-old man from Springfield.
The driver was traveling east on Springfield Avenue and turned right into the alleyway leading into the garage.
He informed the police that he looked ahead to several parking spaces as he made the turn and did not see the victim until just before the vehicle struck her with the left front bumper/hood.
There was no apparent damage to the vehicle.
The injured woman was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad for treatment.
The Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau is currently investigating the incident.
