The father of the 8-year-old girl shot in the head Wednesday evening in Camden announced on social media earlier today that his daughter has succumbed to her injuries.
In a Facebook post, Will Phillips, father of the child said, said "(It's) official ladies n gentlemen my baby Gabrielle Hill Carter is no longer with us. Thank you all for ur prayers."
Wednesday, police rushed to the scene of shots fired in the area of South 8th and Spruce Streets shortly before 9 p.m where arriving officers located 8-year-old Gabrielle Hill Carter suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.
The girl was rushed to Cooper Medical Center in critical condition, according to authorities.
According to authorities, Gabrielle, was outside playing, when shots rang out injuring her. The girl was not believed to be the target, added authorities.
A $76,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect (s) involved.
