The City of Woodbury Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office are jointly offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for causing the death of 26-year-old Shawneeq M. Carter, of Camden, in a Woodbury residence where she had been house-sitting.
According to police, Carter’s body was found at approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 23rd inside 26 Hopkins Street.
An autopsy by the Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of Carter’s death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
This death remains under investigation by the city Police Department and the GCPO. Both agencies have contributed $2,500 toward the reward.
“We are asking the community to come together to assist us in bringing those responsible for this devastating crime to justice,” said Woodbury Police Chief Thomas Ryan. “Woodbury is a close-knit, strong city that will not stand for these types of acts. With the combined efforts of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, the Woodbury Police Department and the great citizens of Woodbury, we will secure justice for Ms. Carter’s family.”
